Victoria's original brewery — returning
Founded in 1858, before Victoria was even a city. Demolished in 1982. Too good a story to end there — we're bringing the Victoria Brewing Company back.
The Victoria Brewing Company was the city's pride before the city officially existed. It brought hope for Victoria's growth and a sense of community for its people — until time and industry consolidation closed its doors and razed its iconic building.
That legacy is too precious to let fade. This project is a call to unite industry talent and honour Victoria's brewing heritage — small-batch, quality-obsessed, and built around tradition, balance, freshness, and science.
Whether you're an established brewery, an industry professional, or a beer enthusiast: join us in bringing it back to life.
William Steinberger, a German immigrant, traded his gold rush ambitions for brewing and founded the Victoria Brewery near Swan Lake — then moved it to the heart of a rapidly growing city.
Recipes currently in development. Small batches, endless iteration — quality, science, and tradition in every glass.
I'm spearheading the Victoria Brewing Co. project. It started years ago, brewing at home — captivated by the science and art of turning simple ingredients into liquid gold. An engineering background found a kindred spirit in the technicalities of brewing, and the quest for the craft led me around the world, learning from brewers and beer cultures firsthand.
As a proud Victoria resident, the vision is simple: tradition, balance, freshness, and science in every brew — especially the German styles, where technical precision meets unparalleled taste.
